Community Fibre bring Gigafast to Central London

Fibre broadband has had a fair amount of coverage with the Government target to bring full fibre to the majority of the UK by 2033. Availability for fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) packages, where a hybrid of fibre and copper connectivity it utilised, sits at over 90% coverage whilst full fibre (FTTP – fibre to the premises) where fibre is connected up directly to the customer property, sits at a considerably lower 3%. Full fibre can deliver Ultrafast speeds from 100Mbs to over 1Gbps, often known as Gigafast broadband.

Whilst the larger broadband providers are still developing out their full fibre networks, an array of smaller providers are deploying across the UK, such as Hyperoptic and Gigaclear.

One such provider is Community Fibre who have deployed a full fibre network in over 1500 postcodes in high conurbation Central London and is reaping the rewards of its investment. In April 2018 it won £18m in UK government funding to target rollout to 500,000 customers by 2022.
